About Us

In 1982, Mr. S.C. Mittal laid the foundation of Pushpanjali Fairtrade Pvt. Ltd., driven by a deep conviction to restore dignity, respect, and equal opportunities to women and marginalized artisans. For centuries, these communities faced historical marginalization, exploitation, and neglect, and Pushpanjali emerged as a movement for equity, self-reliance, and sustainable growth.

At the heart of Pushpanjali’s philosophy is the belief that women and artisans do not seek scraps or charity — they deserve a fair and stable system that values their skills and labor. This approach inspired the establishment of a producer-driven organization committed to creating real change.

Our Journey

  • 1982 – Pushpanjali was established with the participation of five producers alongside the founder.
  • Mid-1980s – Mr. Mittal met with OXFAM, a leading global fair trade organization. Inspired by discussions with them, Pushpanjali began adopting international fair trade principles.
  • 1990s – Expansion of producer networks, creating new clusters of artisans in rural and semi-urban areas.
  • 2000s – Pushpanjali forged partnerships with global fair trade networks, opening international market opportunities for Indian handcrafted products.
  • Present Day – Pushpanjali continues to empower hundreds of artisans and women across regions, enabling sustainable livelihoods and preserving traditional crafts.
